How CSA Works

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. A flower CSA works the same way as vegetable CSAs; a member typically joins in the winter/early spring before the harvest season starts. Your pre-payment helps the Blue Door buy seeds and supplies for the coming year.

In return for your investment, members receive a bouquet or bucket of premium organically-grown flowers on one of the 17 dates listed below. That's right.  You select WHEN you want the flowers.  When you join Blue Door Garden’s CSA, you’ll be getting only the freshest blooms that have been grown in our fields where nurturing nature through biodiversity and sustainable practices is top priority. We grow our flowers right here in Abingdon and they are usually picked the day / evening before members pick up their share, giving them time to condition in our coolers. This is in stark contrast to the tired flowers at the supermarket that have been grown using who knows what and shipped in from who knows where, several days, even weeks, earlier.

CSA BUCKET SHARE ~ 2 WEEK SUBSCRIPTION

Price: $110.00

The bucket share is a particular treat for the flower lover who enjoys creating their own arrangements. Each week members receive a 2 gallon bucket stuffed with loose stems of a variety of seasonal flowers and foliage. The bucket share is perfect for making several small bouquets to scatter around the house or one large statement piece for a special occasion. Bucket share members return their buckets each week when new blooms are picked up. We clean the buckets and re-use them for the CSA throughout the season so there is no wasted packaging.

The bucket share is a great choice for members who love to create their own floral art and want multiple bouquets around the house. It is also great for local restaurants that want to fill bud vases on their table and have flowers on the hostess station.

How it works

Number of Shares:

You can have more than one share of flowers!  You can double up or spread them out over the course of the season. Just let us know your needs.  For example, if you have 2 bouquet shares you can order two bouquets on May 1, one on May 22, two on July 3, and 5 on Sept 17.  As long as your two bouquet shares add up to 10 bouquets.  Each Bouquet share gets 5 bouquets and each Bucket share gets 3 buckets.

Dates:

The Flower CSA season runs for 17 weeks from April - September.  Choose the TUESDAY dates that you would like your flowers, this will give you the advantage of selecting dates around vacations and special occasions.   We will confirm these dates via email upon receiving your order. Blue Door reserves the right to request a change of any date depending on other events or commitments that may arise during the season. We will try our best to work with you to make sure you get your flowers in a timely manner.

Gift Card:

If you are giving a CSA share as a gift, we can provide a lovely card explaining your thoughtful and unique gift. Let us know if you would prefer a paper or electronic card and where to send it.

Color Choice:

If you have certain colors to AVOID mark them in the space provided.  Bouquets are created with a variety of flowers and foliage that complement each other, but if orange, for example, doesn’t fit in your house decor, let us know and we’ll do our best to avoid placing those colors in your order.
